Prosochê ("the App," "we," "our," or "us") is a daily Stoic reflection practice app developed and operated by Neil Ong, an individual developer based in the Philippines. We built Prosochê to be private by design.
The short version: your reflections and journal entries stay on your device. We do not run servers that store your personal content, we do not use analytics or tracking, and we do not sell your data. This policy explains the details.
This policy applies to all users of the Prosochê mobile application. Prosochê is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided personal data, we will delete it promptly.
The following is created by you and stored only on your device using your phone's local storage. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party:
If you start a free trial or purchase a subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment card or Apple account details.
To manage entitlements (knowing whether your subscription is active), we use RevenueCat, a subscription management provider. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated user ID and your purchase and subscription status. It does not receive your name, email, or journal content.
If you are a subscriber and choose to use the AI journal reflection feature, the journal text you submit and your optional mood selection are sent securely (over TLS) to our own server, which uses an AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a short reflective response. This happens only when you actively use the feature. We do not store your journal text on our server after the response is generated, it is not used to train AI models, and it is never used for advertising or sold. Everything you write elsewhere in the App stays on your device.
Because your content stays on your device, our use of it is limited. The App uses your on-device data to show your daily reflection, save your journal entries and bookmarks, track your streak, and send the local reminder you schedule. We use your subscription status (via Apple and RevenueCat) only to unlock paid features and restore purchases. When you actively use the AI journal reflection feature, your submitted text and mood are used solely to generate that response (see Section 3.3).
Your journal entries, saved reflections, streak, optional display name, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. They do not leave your device. If you delete the App, this locally stored data is removed with it.
This version of Prosochê does not sync your content to the cloud or to our servers, and does not offer cross-device sync. Your reflections live on the device where you wrote them. Please back up anything you want to keep before deleting the App or changing devices.
Purchase and subscription data is transmitted securely (over TLS) to Apple and RevenueCat and handled under their respective privacy policies. See Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
The "Tune Today" personalization is generated on your device from a curated library of Stoic content — nothing is transmitted to produce it. The AI journal reflection feature (subscribers only) works differently: when you choose to use it, the text you submit is processed by our server and an AI provider as described in Section 3.3, and the response is shown to you and not retained by us.
Prosochê relies on a small number of services:

We do not use third-party advertising networks, analytics providers, or social media integrations.
Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device and do not send your data to us. You can disable notifications in Prosochê's Settings or in your device's system settings at any time.
Prosochê is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at prosochesupport@emlabscorp.com and we will address it promptly.
Because your personal content is stored on your device, you can access, edit, or delete it directly in the App at any time, and you can remove all of it by deleting the App. For any privacy question or request, contact us at prosochesupport@emlabscorp.com and we will respond within 30 days.
We comply with Republic Act No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012). Philippine residents may also file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission at www.privacy.gov.ph.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, notify you with an in-app notice.
